Allison Wright

It is with great sadness that we share this news with you. Our fellow Riverside archer, Allison Wright (Nee Kelly) passed away peacefully last night, news the family have shared publicly this evening.

For those who do not know Allison, she came to club some years ago having previously learnt field archery, which was always her first love. She was an extremely accomplished barebow archer and has all but one Indoor Lady’s County barebow records.

In 2019 Allison was selected to represent Great Britain in Canada at the World 3D championships as part of the Archery GB team.

In 2020 she was diagnosed with mesothelioma, a cancer which affects the lungs. Allison bravely fought the disease as best she could to the very end.

She was a remarkable woman and a great friend to everyone she knew.

Allison’s funeral will be on Monday 11th March at St Mary Magdalene Church, Prudhoe at 11am, and afterwards at South Road Club.
Sophie made a request regarding dress code –
“My mam was such a bright and laid-back person so wear whatever makes you feel the most comfortable😁
Everyone is welcome!!”

ArcheryGB have posted a tribute to Allison on their website
